Meet Kelley Chapman, the creator of Manakai Swimwear. Kelley approached me over 2 years ago to collaborate on a sustainable swimwear line with her suits and my prints. To be honest I don’t always jump when I here the word “collaboration”. As an artist I find that my work is rarely honored when collaborating with manufacturers. I am usually paid a small fee and receive maybe 10% of the sales if I’m lucky. Though this partnership with Kelley has been such a great experience. She has showed so much generosity & respect for me as an artist and that is the way artists should always feel when sharing their work with other brands! So thank you Kelley for setting the example to follow for women in business, not only with the mutual respect and fair wage to the artist but in the sustainability practices of the materials you use.
